Meet Dr. David Parks
Dr. David J. Parks is a board-certified ophthalmologist and extensively trained retina specialist who has served the Los Angeles, CA, area since 1995. Dr. Parks offers comprehensive care for conditions of the retina and vitreous fluid, including flashers and floaters, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
You’ll find Dr. Parks at our ophthalmologist offices in Beverly Hills, CA, and Lancaster, CA, as well as our office in the U.S. territory of Guam. Our team at Pacific Retina Specialists is proud to have provided world-class retina care to the Mariana Islands since 2010.
Dr. Parks' Education and Training
Dr. Parks earned his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York in Binghamton, NY. He then graduated with honors from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis in 1988. Dr. Parks developed hands-on experience during an internal medicine internship at the University Hospital in Long Island, NY. He also completed a dedicated ophthalmology residency through Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
In 1994, he moved to Los Angeles to accept a fellowship at White Memorial Medical Center, where he was later invited to join the full-time staff as director of ocular immunology and uveitis services.
A Fellowship at the National Eye Institute
After his ophthalmology residency, Dr. Parks accepted a two-year fellowship in ocular immunology and uveitis at the National Eye Institute, a branch of the National Institutes of Health. There, he received a government grant to study the ocular complications of AIDS in adults and children. Through his research, he was able to co-author an article demonstrating the safety and efficacy of a new treatment for cytomegalovirus.
Dr. Parks has published numerous scientific journals and research publications, which has earned him invitations to present his work at national and international conferences.

Outside the Office
Dr. Parks started traveling to Guam in 1999 to make specialized retinal services more accessible. He quickly fell in love with the island and recognized the need for a more permanent retina-focused practice, so he opened a third Pacific Retina Specialists office in Tamuning in 2010.
Dr. Parks is a passionate photographer and sportsman with 10 completed marathons under his belt, including the New York Marathon, the Los Angeles Marathon, and the Guam Ko’Ko’ International Half Marathon. He also loves traveling the world with his wife, Beth, and their two sons.
